Social engineering on a higher level

Basically there are three ways to change people's behvaior:

By education - popular, rarely effective, but if successful very sustainable
By enforcement - effective but disliked
By engineering - costly, risky, but if done right very effective

An amusing example of the latter is the "Your Turn"- washer, designed by the Spanish inventor Pep Torres. Originally designed as Father's day's gift it forces men to take their responsibility in doing the laundry. By using a biometric (finally an application area) fingerprint sensor the washing machine controls who starts the machine. And it only allow the same person to start it every second time. In between, your spouse have to step in.

Who thought this would come from Spain?
